She has been nominated for album of the year four times, making this her fifth time. If she won, she would be the first black woman in the 21st century to win Album of the Year. “Texas Hold ‘Em,” a single from “Cowboy Carter,” hit No. 1 on Billboard 100 and on Hot Country Songs survey, which made her the first Black woman to top the chart. The album itself takes her audience back to her roots in Houston, Texas.
“Everything about it is country, it feels like I’m going to a rodeo,” junior Ja’Niya Bartley said. “It’s just so upbeat.”

Aside from her bold personality and style, her vocal abilities and ideas expressed in her music has attracted millions of fans.

“Brat” dominated the Billboard Dance/Electronic charts, with several tracks blanketing the Dance/Electronic Songs chart. The distinct neon green shade and narrow Arial font on the “brat” album cover rapidly made its way into pop culture. The album inspired TikTok dances, “brat” themed lyric videos, and marketing campaigns for large brands and organizations that mirror the blurry text. Earlier this year, Klein ISD made a back-to-school post resembling the album cover, which gained 1874 likes.
Her fame goes beyond just the “brat” aesthetic. At surface level, the songs are fun and danceable, but some of her lyrics muse on her life story, capturing her emotions and themes for fans to empathize with. The high-energy pop album’s catchy lyrics and innovative sounds all contributed to Charli XCX’s recent success.

Her lyrics reflect her life experiences, and in a Rolling Stone interview, Eilish said the album “feels like [her] youth and who [she] was as a kid.” Although the album did not debut at number 1, it has found success in allowing listeners to empathize and connect to her music.
“I think she’s a really great artist, and she is capable of winning [Album of the Year] like that,” sophomore Sophia Suraez said. “She’s been in the music industry for quite some time, and she’s grown a lot.”
