Theater Presents: Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

The theater department held a play called, “Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” by Kate DiCamillo and adapted by Dwayne Hartford. Directed by senior Emma Marie-Dedon, the play tells a story about a stuck-up rabbit who only cared about himself. Throughout the story, he learned to love and care for others through his experiences with different owners. Photos were taken on opening night on April 27, 2023.

  • Sitting down on a bed, senior Tamanh Tran (grandmother) gifts freshman Nikole Munoz (Abilene) a china rabbit who she names Edward Tulane.

  • Senior Tamanh Tran (grandmother) narrates a story about a princess who could not love as freshman Evian Johnson (prince) and junior Reese Cantu (princess) act out the scene.

  • Freshman Evian Johnson (Bull) plays a homeless man with a dog named Lucy puppeteered by freshman Lily Burcham. They stay in a boxcar on a train and are caught by the watchman acted by freshman Edgar Reachi who takes Edward Tulane away from Bull and throws it off the train.

  • After finding the china rabbit, junior Savionn Sharp acting as Bryce, a kind brother to his sickly sister Sarah Ruth, gives junior Reese Cantu (Sarah Ruth) the rabbit as a gift that she adores.

  • Pointing to a star in the sky, junior Reese Cantu (Sarah Ruth) and junior Savionn Sharp (Bryce) make a wish for a better life.

  • Freshman James Rahman narrates the scene transition in the story as characters move into position in the background.

  • At a diner, junior Savionn Sharp (Bryce) and freshman Randy Angel (Edward Tulane) sit down as junior Danika Clarson (waitress) takes Bryce’s order.

  • As the narrator, freshman James Rahman, reads the ending lines of the play, all the characters who have been in Edward Tulane’s life gather to the front of the stage.
