The Eagles brought home nine medals from the Klein Tennis Tournament in March, the most won so far this season.

The team spends time during their athletics period drilling and challenging each other, but they also stay after school every day, weather permitting, playing until 5 or 6p.m. After a school week full of studying and practices, most of the players hit the courts during the weekend to practice some more.

“I felt like if I practice enough that it’s worth it,” gold medalist Jennifer Tu said.

The other schools at the tournament were Klein Collins, Cy-Springs, Tomball Memorial, Atascocita, and Klein High school.

“They were good completion, and my opponent could keep a good rally,” Tu said. “The last one, during finals especially. We played for so long I was so tired.”

For many of the players, Tuesday was their first time ever winning a medal for a tournament, so the bus ride home was full of celebrations and cheering.

“I almost cried I was so happy,” Tu said.
