As Lance Alexander, principal, welcomed seniors, family and friends to the senior awards program, he paused and said, “Before we get started, we have a surprise.”

As KPRC Channel 2 reporter and cameraman came from behind the stage, the audience sat silently until they heard the reporter announce Asiah Donahue had won a $2500 scholarship.

“I was surprised,” Donahue said. “This money will help to purchase items I need for college. I’m really happy. Thank you.”
